A slew of Chicago restaurants are set to get their close-up on the small screen in the coming weeks on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives with Guy Fieri, so here's your early warning to set up that DVR so you don't miss the action.
Tonight, Fieri stops into Lakeview BYO Mexican spot Chilam Balam. The episide, "Homemade & Homebrewed," sees the host digging into some of chef Chuy Valencia's dishes, including shiitake mushroom empanadas and flautas with homemade queso fresco. Apparently Valencia worked for Fieri back in the day at Johnny Garlic's.
Next week on Oct. 10, Irazu, one of Chicago's only Costa Rican spots, will be featured. The restaurant is part of the "Latin Street Food" episode and Fieri showcases the chicharron with pico de gallo and a pepito sandwich with steak and black beans. Fast forward to Oct. 17 and Fieri drops into DMK Burger Bar for the "Slammin' Sammies" episode, which also features spots from Virginia Beach, Va., and San Antonio. And finally, on Oct. 24, the show heads to the South Side to Chuck's Southern Comforts Cafe for a little BBQ featuring cajun meatloaf and chicken fried chicken. DDD also filmed at Big & Little's and, according to the restaurant's Facebook page, that show will air on Nov. 7.
