If you miss the days of eating lunch at a table surrounded by friends and pulling your PB&J or cheese sandwich out of your favorite lunchbox, nostalgia may be coming your way—assuming you can get a spot at Next's forthcoming restaurant iteration: childhood. Grant Achatz tweeted, "Coming soon.... Childhood. Service pieces started arriving today" and posted a pic of a classic Strawberry Shortcake lunchbox.
Achatz told Eater they're going to serve a course in a lunchbox and have been scouring eBay and antique shops for vintage lunchboxes featuring things like Superheroes and Wonder Woman.
He also mentioned that nearly 50 percent of bookings at Next and Alinea come from outside the U.S. "So if you're coming from Copenhagen, did you have a He-Man lunchbox? Probably not," he said. "Will the jokes be lost? [We] can [at least] give them an insight of what it was like to grow up in the Midwest in the '70s and '80s." The new concept will hit Next the middle of this month.
