If you're tired of turkey legs and cheesecake at Taste of Chicago, it's time to rejoice. The city announced that the Taste, which will again get produced by the city and not the park district, will shrink to five to seven days from the 10-day run it has enjoyed over the years—a move to counter decreasing attendance and revenues. And it will invite less restaurants in the hope of turning it more upscale, but without "imitating" Chicago Gourmet. "I’m trying to bring the focus back on the food and not on the circuses and how this fest becomes a driver to support the restaurant scene," said Michelle Boone, Chicago's cultural affairs and special events commissioner.
