Sure we all want to eat healthier, but every so often you just gotta let go and indulge. And in the middle of winter when you're looking to add some extra padding to stay just a bit warmer, nothing beats fried food (OK fine, a big bowl of pasta, a pizza or some doughnuts work, too). That said, Steve Dolinsky tracks down his top five favorite fried chicken joints in the Chicago area and we may start a journey to hit each and every one of them.
His top picks tied for first place are, in fact, a family affair. Great Seas China in Albany Park and Take Me Out in Pilsen are owned by the parents and daughters, respectively, and churn out some of the city's best chicken wings. If you've ever had Take Me Out's "little hotties," you definitely know what the Hungry Hound is talking about.
If you follow the rest of Dolinsky's picks (and honorable mentions), you'll spend a good amount of time traveling throughout the Chicago area, up into Evanston, down south to Harvey and out west to Willowbrook. The rest of his list includes Evanston Chicken Shack, Crisp, Chicago's Home of Chicken and Waffles and Dell Rhea's Chicken Shack. You ready to start eatin'?
