On Sunday, Feb. 6, the Girl & The Goat will do something it hasn't done before: serve brunch. In honor of Super Bowl XLV, chef/owner Stephanie Izard will host a special Sunday brunch at her West Loop location, for which reservations are now being taken for tables between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m; walk-ins will also be welcome. The restaurant will be closed for dinner that night.
Izard is planning a special menu, which will include dishes like Walter's wings with chili yuzu bbq (Walter is their farmer, in case you were curious); crispy poached duck egg with confit hash; savory french toast with crisp pork belly and pistachio relish; goat sausage gravy and biscuits; fried oyster po' boy with sunny side egg and rouille; spiced crumpets with maple-manquat syrup and bacon pine but tapenade; and the Goat's "normal pig face since it is pretty brunchy," Izard said. The bar will offer house bloody marys with a PBR back as a special drink.
The Goat will set up big-screen TVs around the restaurant showing highlights from past Super Bowl games, including the full 1985 Chicago Bears game, and the sound will be pumped through the restaurant's speakers.
So basically, you can get your day started early and by the time the game actually starts, you'll either be all toasted and rowdy or ready to curl up and pass out.
