Paul Kahan Tweets That Foodie Haven Avec Will Open Soon

It's time to rejoice, raise your arms up to the sky and scream hallelujah ... avec will soon reopen. At least according to a tweet sent out this morning by executive chef/owner Paul Kahan. The renowned chef, who made an appearance on Nightline two weeks ago, announced, "Avec. Finally moving forward! Opening soon!"

The restaurant has secured five permits necessary to begin working on the building's exterior to bring things up to code. A grease-chute fire on Aug. 9, that led to the tragic death of a Chicago fireman, raised eyebrows and repairs need to be made to the roof and other areas outside the restaurant. Now that the permits are in place, construction should begin on Monday and the restaurant will hopefully re-open shortly thereafter.
