We find it hard to believe that of the top 50 "most romantic restaurants" rated by Open Table customers that the only Chicago restaurant to land in the list is Lincoln Park fondue spot Geja's Cafe. Sure, cooking your food in hot oil tableside while listening to a live flamenco guitarist has its charms, but really, it's the only one in the top 50?
Ok, this list is based on reviews (two million reviews, mind you) from throughout the year and across the U.S. and who knows who is actually posting reviews to Open Table, but we know there's plenty of other Chicago spots that should be on the list.
For one, have you ever dined at Spiaggia, Sixteen or NoMI and sat in a window seat overlooking Michigan Avenue, Lake Michigan or the Chicago River? Romantic. What about dining in a dark corner at Mon Ami Gabi with a great bottle of Cotes du Rhone? Pretty nice, we say. Even getting down and dirty in a big bowl of moules frites at the Publican is pretty sexy. All these restaurants on Open Table. None made the cut.
We guess it's pretty telling that there's only one New York restaurant on the list and that the Eiffel Tower restaurant at the Paris Hotel in Vegas makes a showing. Ah, America.
