EVERYWHERE—Whatever side of the debate you happen to fall, there's no question food trucks are a hot topic in Chicago at the moment. Gaztro-Wagon owner Matt Maroni appears on WTTW's Chicago Tonight this evening to argue the point for the mobile food mobiles. Check, Please! host and master sommelier Alpana Singh will also show up, but she's there to discuss wine, natch. [WTTW/Twitter]

WEST LOOP—Want to test your wine palate? Chef Michael McDonald and one sixtyblue will host a blind wine tasting—paired with tasty bites, of course—on Jan. 3. Tickets are $47 per person for 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. tastings. Reserve tickets online now. [EaterWire]

RIVER NORTH—Not so into wine? Rock Bottom Brewery kicks off a monthly "Beer School" Jan. 4 with $15 hour-and-a-half class. Attendees will taste a sampling of tap brews, snack on warm pretzels, get a brewery tour, learn about beer history and get a ticket good for one pint in the bar. Classes are limited to 20 people and space can be reserved by calling 312-755-1677. [EaterWire]
