As 2010 winds down, publications have started putting out their end of year lists. Last week Time Out Chicago gave us the best 100 things they ate all year. And now the Reader has popped out their top 10 best new restaurants as well as the 110 tasty things they ate in 2010.
No major surprises graced the Reader's best new list. In no particular order, they honed in on Arami, Balsan, Big Star, Branch 27, Girl & The Goat, Henri, Kith & Kin, the Purple Pig, Ria and Sprout. Well, maybe the one surprise is that they tagged both restaurants in the Elysian, but with chef Jason McLeod overseeing the kitchens and Ria having received two Michelin stars, maybe it isn't that surprising.
In a more extensive list, Reader food critic Mike Sula provides a tasty offering of the 110 best things he devoured this year. Calling it "a good year for eating," Sula attempted to limit his list to 50, but just couldn't.
He ingested everything from the wild boar belly naanwich from Gaztro-Wagon and avocado-cinnamon gelato from Black Dog to Sun Wah's lotus root with house-cured bacon and pupusas from Buen Sabor. Good eatin' indeed.
