Tuesday night, Urban Belly/Belly Shack chef/owner Bill Kim discovered that someone had called a few restaurants in Chicago claiming to be him and hurling insults and expletives to the people on the other line. The caller didn't think to block called ID and it turned out the calls had come from Wicker Park restaurant Schwa, which recently was awarded a Michelin star.
Last night, Kim received an apology from Schwa. "I am satisfied with the apology and it's water under the bridge," Kim said. "[I'm] looking forward to moving on and maybe having dinner at Schwa."
We're not sure about you, but if it was us, we'd be pretty pissed that someone was muddying our name around town. We still want to know who made the calls. Was it owner Michael Carlson? Another chef? A disgruntled server? What do you think about the whole thing? Send us a note, especially if you have any good inside juice on the matter.
