Graham Elliot's long-anticipated new sandwich spot, Grahamwich, officially opens its doors Wednesday at 7 a.m. and people can't seem to hold in their excitement. Today, Elliot invited Eater Chicago to stop by for a sneak peek and a personal tour of the space.
We did indulge in a couple of the Grahamwiches (the not-so-easy-to-eat-but-super-tasty jibarito press and the uber-gooey-and-buttery grilled cheese with Wisconsin cheddar, cheese curds and shaved prosciutto). For those of you going for the early-morning rush, Grahamwich serves Metropolis coffee (only French press and caffeinated espresso drinks; no decaf or flavored syrups) and a variety of fresh pastries from Fritz Pastry.
Lunch officially starts at 11:30 and will run until closing time, which tomorrow could happen as soon as they run out of food or the kitchen implodes from the overload of all you eager foodies rushing the stage. Caveat emptor: don't plan on ordering 50 sandwiches and charging it on your credit card; Grahamwich is CASH ONLY.
