Bridgeport Getting Groceries; Vincent Likes Gin; German Christkindl Market in Lincoln Square

BRIDGEPORT—Residents in this South Side neighborhood went scrambling when they lost their Jewel a few years back and things got worse when the Egg Store produce market closed about a year ago. But now they won't have to travel far for fresh produce and packaged goods as Cermak Fresh Market, an 18,000 square-foot store will rise on the former Jewel site at 3033 S. Halsted sometime mid-winter. [Curbed Chicago]

ANDERSONVILLE—In honor of Repeal Day, Local Wine Co. and Ransom Gin will team up at Vincent on Dec. 5. The $20 cover between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. (or "whenever" as they said) will get you chef Joncarl Lachman's fried oysters and other tasty bits as well as a slew of cocktails like Ransom Old Tom Gin, Small's American Dry Gin and Whipper Snapper Whiskey cocktails. Get on the list by calling Vincent at 773-334-7168. [EaterWire]

LINCOLN SQUARE—While the sprawling bazaar in the Loop takes place all month, the Christkindl Market in Lincoln Square only goes on for three days, Dec. 3-5. The event takes place under a large tent at Lincoln and Leland avenues, where in addition to family fun, you can gorge yourself on German goodies, like warm fresh pretzels, German doughnuts, apple strudel, goulash, potato pancakes and bratwurst. And then of course wash it all down with a hearty ale. [EaterWire]
