Brand-spakin'-new English gastropub Blokes & Birds opened this week, giving Chads and Trixies a new haunt in which to frolic. The bi-level pub is a gorgeous spot with dark wood throughout, a wraparound bar and a couple of fireplaces for canoodling this winter. Exposed brick walls, black-and-white rock photography and a pool table add to the ambiance.
Dive in to the extensive global beer list featuring brews from the U.S., England and Belgium or sip on original cocktails crafted by local sommelier Justin Leone (Alinea, Benny's Chop House). Dine on modern takes on typical pub fare like shepherd's pie, fish 'n' chips, bangers and bubble & squeak. Other menu items from chef Greg Cannon (Ruth's Chris, Nia Mediterranean) include a foie burger, chicken tikka masala, saffron lobster risotto and an open-faced corned beef.
With all this English-ness running amok, it's only a matter of time before neighbor Wrigley Field starts hosting cricket games.
