Hamid Karzai's brother operated a restaurant in Chicago? According to the new information coming out of WikiLeaks, yes. The Karzais owned Helmand, an Afghan restaurant, at the corner of Belmont and Halsted, which was reviewed by Tribune's critic Phil Vettel in 1995. Karzai's half brother, Ahmad Wali Karzai, ran it—and apparently loved the neighborhood. And to think shower contests took place just across the street at gay bar Spin. [Tribune]
