In an effort to support Share Out Strength, a national organization working to combat and eliminate child hunger, Mercadito restaurants in Chicago, New York and Miami and chef/owner Patricio Sandoval kicked off a year-long promotion inviting guest chefs in each city to create a special taco to be featured each month in different locations.
For November, Girl & The Goat chef Stephanie Izard contributed a braised chicken taco, made with avocado creme fraiche, fermented black beans, nicoise olive tapenade and shaved brussel sprouts. The $16 four-taco platter has been hugely popular. To date, Mercadito has sold nearly 500 tacos with five percent of all taco sales benefitting Share Out Strength. That's the good news. The better news? You still have two weeks to hit Mercadito to check out the savory tacos and do some good.
