Things are about to get hot in the kitchen at Franks 'n' Dawgs, the Lincoln Park "haute" dog and sausage joint. Owner Alex Brunacci has pitted local chefs against each other to create the top gourmet dog, voted on by diners. Todd Stein, who was at Cibo Matto when his dog hit the menu but will soon head up the kitchen at the Florentine, saw his "Frank 'N' Stein" recently unseated by the "Pig Latin" pup created by Mercat a la Planxa chef Michael Fiorello.
We're not sure whether Fiorello is quaking in his boots, but recently named Blackbird Chef de Cuisine David Posey just entered the ring. His "Ring Around the Posey" looks like fierce competition with a mustard veal sausage topped with pickled green tomatoes, shoestring potato cake, house-cured bacon and a tomato aioli.
