Next time you're famished and thinking of hitting the fast-food drive-thru at Mickey D's, keep driving, park your car and walk up to the window at Taco Joint Urban Taqueria and Cantina.
The simply-named spot—which may confuse people when they say "let's go to the taco joint" and you're not sure which one they're talking about—is set to open in Lincoln Park mid- to late-November and is coming from Zocalo owner Edgar Castaneda.
The casual spot will focus on Mexican street fare and easy-to-eat items like tacos, flautas and more. Once Castaneda secures their liquor license, he'll open the main restaurant, where they'll offer a larger menu and full bar. So don't worry, you'll still be able to get your margaritas. This now marks another quick-take spot, like Big Star in Wicker Park and hopefully this will be a new trend in the city. Because what's better than knocking on a window and having someone hand you a taco?
