The layers of the onion that is the new Giuseppe Tentori-driven Boka Restaurant Group-owned oyster bar are peeling back slowly: Now it has a name and a vintage-looking logo. The restaurant, that will take over the former Tizi Melloul space, will officially be called ... GT Fish & Oyster.
If you haven't pieced together the puzzle, GT stands for Giuseppe Tentori and fish and oysters will be the focus at what will likely be another hot spot for the Boka Group, which also owns Perennial, Boka, Landmark and, most recently, The Girl & The Goat.
While more details are forthcoming, we do know that the restaurant design and build-out is being done by the South Side firm 555 International, which also designed Stephanie Izard's Girl & The Goat. GT Fish & Oyster is expected to open in a few weeks, but as anything in Chicago surrounding restaurant openings, this could easily take longer.
CORRECTION: After we posted this story, we spoke with the Boka Group and learned that the information that GT Fish & Oyster would open in a few weeks, as reported by Crain's, was incorrect. The restaurant is actually slated to open around February of 2011.
