If you have never attended the Meals on Wheels Celebrity Chef Ball you have missed out. One of the premier food events of the year, the Celeb Chef Ball takes place this Friday, Oct. 15 at Macy's on State Street and is unlike any other food party you'll likely attend—if you hit the sit-down VIP dinner.
The party features two parts, the Chef's Table VIP dinner and the more casual Dine Around, where you get to nibble samples of food from about 80 of Chicago's top chefs, including Jimmy Bannos, Jr. (Purple Pig), Rick Gresh (David Burke's Primehouse), Tony Priolo (Piccolo Sogno), Stephanie Izard (Girl & The Goat), Randy Zweiban (Province), Koren Grieveson (avec), Dirk Flanigan (The Gage), Paul Virant (Vie), Ryan Poli (Perennial), Nicole Pederson (C-House) and more.
If you want to attend the Chef's Table VIP portion of the night, tickets are $300; the Dine Around segment will cost you $100. While it may sound a bit steep for the VIP bit, you get to be up-close-and-personal as chefs literally cook right in front of you while you dine in small pods. Proceeds from the event fund the work of Meals on Wheels, which delivers prepared meals to the elderly and the disabled in order to allow them to be somewhat more self sufficient.
