We not only love Angels & Kings because our friends from LBC, Five Star and Empire Liquors own it (sure, we know it's technically Pete Wentz's place, but we don't know him and therefore don't care) or for the fact that the space is cool and laid back. But why we really love them is they want to help showcase emerging bands. Case in point: tonight a great band from Cambridge, Mass., Chester French, will be hitting the stage for a few songs. We learned about these guys about 1.5 years ago and thought they ruled then. Now apparently Pharrell signed them to his label after sparring with Kanye over them. If you're out and about tonight, either after dinner somewhere in the area like Ajasteak, ZED 451, Quartino or maybe Pizzeria via Stato or just want a cool place to drink, head to A&K. The band's music is retro yet modern; slinky, sexy and warm. Get a taste here. And get there early -- another thing we love about A&K: it's small and they stop letting people in.
