PILSEN: Take Me Out, Let's Eat Chinese, the popular hot wings spot in Pilsen will re-open its doors October 18, according to a sign out front. The restaurant, which had only been open a few months, was heavily damaged due to a fire that ripped through its storefront on August 11 along with the adjacent jeweler and the popular Bombon Café two doors down. People flock to Take Me Out for their wings, which originated at owner Karen Lim's parents' Albany Park restaurant Great Sea. While the front of the place looks somewhat chain-like, the food is what people go for. [EaterWire]
As for Bombon Cafe, we just spoke with owner Laura Cid-Perea who said they hope to re-open soon but they're still waiting on the insurance company to "figure things out." She said that location (they have two others -- 38 S. Ashland and 1000 N. Clark, Bombon Americano Bakeshop & Café) will hopefully re-open in 2009. "That's a great block. I wish Karen the best. I believe in Pilsen 100 percent. My heart is in Pilsen."
