This just in: ZED451 has shut down its two suburban locations, in Schaumburg and Downers Grove. Apparently the two spots, which opened wihin the last two years, didn't take off like the downtown location, which opened this summer to major buzz (maybe it was the grassy section on the roof deck?!). The city spot has more going on and the other locations were “not able to offer some of ZED451’s dynamic experiences, such as communal dining tables, a chef’s table and upscale outdoor space which are fundamental to the brand,” Daniel Harf, chief brand officer for Tavistock Restaurants. No word on whether they'll rebrand or sell the properties. We wonder how much money they were losing -- god knows it cost a few bags full to open the River North space. [Crain's]
