UPTOWN—Well that happened pretty fast. We just told you last week that Fontana Grill Wine Bar was coming to Uptown. We drove by today and a large yellow sign informed passersby that Fontana was now just awaiting a liquor license but the restaurant would be BYO until then. We just spoke to an owner who told us they will be open for business tonight by 5:30 with their full menu (pizzas, lamb, salmon, etc) and they hope the liquor license will come through within a couple of weeks. Until then there's a liquor store a couple of doors down. The website is supposed to be fontanagrill.com but that returns nothing and a Google search isn't much more help. [EaterWire]
RIVER NORTH—Like oysters? Love beer? Head down to Shaw's Crab House tomorrow afternoon and get your party on. The annual Royster with the Oyster (does that honestly mean something?!) takes place and the big party happens tomorrow under the big tent on Hubbard. Everything starts at 3pm but the big draws, the Shucking Contest and the Grand Slurp Off, happen at 4:30 and 7, respectively. [EaterWire]
WICKER PARK—Looks like Urban Belly isn't the only noodle game in town. Dish reports that Rick Spiros (Roy’s, Madame B) will open his 71-seat spot, Mantou Noodles Bar, later this month. “It’s based on Asian street food,” Spiros says. Menu items will include spicy chicken steamed buns; housemade curries, Vietnamese pâté with sriracha aïoli and Saigon baguette. They'll have a 2am liquor license. [Dish]
