Wednesday Opening Report: Province, Steve's Deli, Sky Lounge

1) West Loop: Province is open! It's amazing, a restaurant that opens within two days of it announcing it would, amazing. Randy Zweiban's Spanish-influenced spot on Jefferson opens officially tonight -- and Zweiban has introduced a new dinner menu, that includes dishes like peekytoe crab toast ($4), fluke ceviche w/ red grapefruit ($8), tortilla soup with avocado and smoked chicken ($7), spice-rubbed grilled ahi tuna taco with serrano chile tartar salsa ($8), Gunthorp Farms rabbit confit with Marcona almond emulsion ($12) and it goes on like that. The reasonably priced menu consists of small, big and bigger plates and sounds damn good. We'll be heading in soon. Status: certified open. 161 N. Jefferson; 312-669-9900. [EaterWire]

2) River North: Uch, who knew anutha Jewish deli was opening?! You'd think we'd have heard!? Thrillist reports that Steve's Deli, the famous Detroit outpost, opened its doors on Monday across the street from the East Bank Club. So now after you hit the schfitz, you can work your way across the street for a nice lean corned beef on rye with brown mustard. Don't forget your Dr. Brown's. 354 West Hubbard; 312-467-6868. 3) Streeterville: What's up with all the sky-high lounges popping up around town? First C-House. Then Vertigo. And now Urban Daddy lets us know about Sky Lounge in the Avenue Hotel (and what's with all the new boutique hotels downtown?!). This 40th floor enclosed lounge serves great post-work martinis and tapas. And if you need something more filling afterward, pop down to the Elephant & Castle Pub on the street level for some fish and chips. Status: certified open. 160 E. Huron; 877-283-5110 [UD]
