Eater Inside: Sweet Thang

If you buy something from an Eater link, Vox Media may earn a commission. See our ethics policy.

Even though Sweet Thang, a Bucktown staple for years, closed after losing its lease, it has reopened in Roscoe Village with new owner Dave Crawford. It still offers the French pastries and cakes it became famous for but has expanded its menu to include more sandwiches, quiche, coffee bar, salads, pies, more sweets and now serves ice cream. We only popped in, but didn't eat (ok, we did taste some ice cream, which was great, but that is made by an outside company). Since the store opened in late summer, there has been much controversy, including much deriding of the new owner and manager, with Yelpers claiming they aren't paying staff and messed up one couples wedding by not delivering their cake. Have you been? What do you think? Do these pictures make you want to check it out? The manager told us they're talking about re-opening in Wicker Park and possibly another spot in Ukrainian Village.
