Hitting a year in the restaurant world is a big feat and not everyone makes it. So to celebrate its first anniversary, Roots Handmade Pizza is offering 50 percent off all dine-in pizza orders today. With that comes some drink specials, including $1 3-ounce pours of Roots' House Brew, crafted by Two Brothers.
While $3 Cazadores tequila shots will be available until Roots closes at 2 a.m., there will be a hosted Cazadores reception between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. You'll want to be there to work up your appetite because at 10, all paying customers at the bar will get free samples of Roots' latest chef collaboration pizza with Stephanie Izard.
Izard's pizza will comprise Pleasant Meadows goat sausage ragu topped with Quad Cities mozzarella blend cheese, smoked cheddar cheese, sharp-aged cheddar cheese and drizzled with yuzu-maple sauce. The pie is free tonight and will be on the menu starting May 31 for the next few months.
And what's a celebration without cake? All customers throughout the day get a free slice of cake from neighboring Bleeding Heart Bakery, which is co-owned by Roots partners Scott Weiner and Greg Mohr. Happy birthday.
