After firing Pat Bruno a few weeks ago, the Sun-Times slyly announced its new restaurant critic through a randomly placed promo ad in today's sports section. After a few weeks of speculation, it has brought on seasoned (but youthful) writer Michael Nagrant, who has written for Saveur, New City and CS as well as serving as a contributor to the Alinea cookbook. Nagrant's first reviews will appear in tomorrow's paper.
Nagrant, who writes with color and a staunch point of view, has also been known to provoke other food journalists through social media outlets like Twitter. It'll be nice to see the Sun-Times get some fresh, opinionated blood in its pages. Good luck, Mike. We'll be reading.
