Esquire food writer John Mariani really seems to have a beef with Alinea chef Grant Achatz. Mariani just posted a lengthy rantreview of Achatz's bio Life, on the Line, in which he calls Achatz "insufferable" and "ego-driven," and claims that the part in the book about him writing notes on, and ultimately leaving the restaurant with, a hand-crafted wine list, was fabricated. Eater National has more, uh, beef. [~E~]
