Garrett Mix is the new Chicago Mix. Chicago popcorn icon Garrett Popcorn Shops is one of three recipients of a lawsuit from Minnesota-based chain Candyland over the use of the term 'Chicago Mix,' the Pioneer Press reported, which Garrett had used to describe its mix of caramel and cheese corn for decades. Turns out that Candyland has held a trademark on the name since 1992.
'Garrett Mix,' a name that a Garrett spokesman terms "more ownable," has replaced 'Chicago Mix' on the Garrett Popcorn Shops website but not yet in stores, according to the Tribune.
