Trophy Room, the replacement for District Bar, will serve customers a variety of red and white pizzas when the new restaurant and bar opens for the first time today.
Billed as a place for fans of both American and international sports, the menu includes red-sauced items like "The Sausage Fest" (Italian sausage, parmesan and banana pepper pizza) and "The Angry Bird" (chicken, Hook's white cheddar and fried chiles). Pizzas cost from $12 to $17 and there's also a selection of appetizers and salads.
Lunch will only be served on Saturday and Sunday, with plans to eventually expand lunch service to weekdays at 170 W. Ontario St.
As far as the beverage menu goes, a cocktail will set customers back $12. Drinks have been divided into three sections according to alcohol level: "Lightweight", "Middleweight", and the "Heavyweight" section seems to be aimed at jocks with three sports-themed drinks. As proof, there's the "NBA Jam" (Dewar's scotch, St. Elizabeth liqueur, Luxardo Maraschino cherries, apricot, jam and lemon juice) and the "Vinny del Negroni", apparently a reference to former Chicago Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro.
A variety of beers from local breweries are on tap ($6), while drinkers not interested in craft beer can sip on Bud, Corona and other beer selections which will cost $5.
The bar will open at 4 p.m. on weekdays, and close at 2 a.m. Sunday through Friday and 3 a.m. on Saturday. SocialLightGroup, which also runs ESTATE Ultra Bar off of Elston and Division, plans a grand opening party on Friday, Nov. 7.
